What Whitepages Collects About You

Whitepages has been aggregating public records since 1997 and receives over 35 million monthly visits. A typical Whitepages profile includes:

  • Full name and known aliases
  • Current and past addresses (up to 20+ years)
  • Phone numbers (landline and mobile)
  • Age and date of birth
  • Relatives and housemates
  • Property ownership records
  • Neighbors and nearby residents

Key Challenge

Whitepages requires phone verification. They send a verification code to a phone number they have on file for you. If that number is incorrect or disconnected, you'll need to try alternate verification methods or contact support.

Step-by-Step Removal Process

Step 1: Find Your Listing

Go to whitepages.com and search for your name + city or phone number. You may have multiple listings under different addresses or name variations. Note the URL of each listing you want removed.

Step 2: Go to the Suppression Request Page

Visit whitepages.com/suppression-requests. Paste the full URL of the listing you want removed into the form.

Step 3: Enter Your Information

Provide your name, age range, state, and a phone number. Whitepages will send a verification code to this number — it must match one of the numbers in your listing.

Step 4: Verify via Phone

Whitepages will call or text the verification code to the number you provided. Enter the code in the form to confirm your identity. This is the step that fails most often — if the number they have is outdated or wrong, you won't receive the code.

If You Don't Receive the Verification Code

  • Try a different phone number from your listing (landline, old cell, relatives' numbers)
  • Check if the call/text went to spam or was blocked
  • Contact Whitepages support at support@whitepages.com with your listing URL and proof of identity

Step 5: Submit the Request

After entering the verification code, submit the suppression request. Whitepages will email you a confirmation.

Step 6: Repeat for All Listings

You must submit a separate request for each listing. If you found multiple profiles (different addresses, name variations), repeat the process for each one.

Whitepages Premium Listings

Whitepages Premium is a separate paid service with more detailed data. If your data appears in Premium results, you need to submit a separate opt-out request using the same process at whitepages.com/suppression-requests. Note the Premium listing URL specifically.

After You Submit

  • Wait 24-48 hours for removal to process
  • Verify removal by searching for yourself again after 2 days
  • Document it — note the date and use our Opt-Out Tracker to stay organized
  • Check Premium listings separately — they may require a second request

If Your Data Comes Back

Whitepages continuously scrapes public records. Your data can reappear after weeks or months. If it does:

  1. Submit a new suppression request (same process as above)
  2. Check if the data is from a new public record source — Whitepages pulls from voter rolls, property records, court filings, and utility records
  3. If you're in a state with privacy laws (California, Virginia, Colorado, etc.), file a complaint — check our State Rights Lookup
  4. Consider minimizing future data collection by using a P.O. box, opting out of voter rolls (where allowed), and avoiding public-facing property records

Pro Tip: Reduce Raw Data at the Source

Whitepages aggregates data from public records. To minimize future collection, opt out of reverse directory listings with your phone carrier, use a P.O. box for public-facing addresses, and request unlisted status on property records (where allowed).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is removing my data from Whitepages really free?

Yes. Whitepages' suppression request is completely free. You don't need to pay for removal. If any site asks for payment to remove you from Whitepages, it's a scam.

What if I don't have access to the phone number Whitepages has on file?

Try alternate numbers from your listing (old cell, landline, relatives). If none work, email support@whitepages.com with your listing URL, name, address, and a request to remove your data. You may need to provide proof of identity (government ID).

Will removing my data from Whitepages also remove it from other sites?

No. Each data broker operates independently. Removing from Whitepages does not affect Spokeo, BeenVerified, Intelius, or any other broker. You'll need to opt out of each one separately — see our complete data broker opt-out guide.

How long does Whitepages keep my data after I opt out?

Whitepages removes your listing from search results within 24-48 hours. However, new data may be collected from public records at any time. You may need to re-submit suppression requests periodically.
