Opt-Out Tracker

Track your data broker removal progress and never miss a follow-up.

Why Tracking Opt-Outs Matters More Than Sending Them

There are more than 12 well-known people-search and marketing-data brokers on this tracker alone, and the full U.S. data-broker ecosystem includes hundreds of smaller aggregators that buy, merge, and resell consumer records. Submitting an opt-out request to one broker removes your record from that broker's database — but not from the downstream buyers, affiliates, or "data hygiene" partners they previously sold the data to. That's why privacy professionals treat opt-outs as a rolling process: most brokers legally may re-ingest public records or re-purchase your data on a fresh cycle roughly every 30 to 90 days, so a record removed in January can quietly reappear by April.

This tool records every opt-out you submit, stores the follow-up date each broker's policy requires (usually 45 days under CCPA/CPRA, 45 under Colorado CPA, 60 under Virginia VCDPA), and lets you export the full history as CSV for your own records or for a lawyer if a broker misses the statutory response window. All data stays in your browser's localStorage — we never see or transmit your list. Use the Broker Database for canonical opt-out URLs and the Privacy Audit for a personalized removal roadmap.

How It Works

1

Track Requests

Add each opt-out request as you submit it. Include the date and any confirmation numbers.

2

Monitor Status

After 45 days, requests automatically move to "Need Follow-up" to remind you to verify removal.

3

Confirm Removal

Check each broker's site to verify your data is gone, then mark the request as confirmed.

Privacy & Storage Notes

  • Browser localStorage — All opt-out tracking data is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage under the key privacyfix_optout_tracker. No data is sent to our servers at any point.
  • 45-day follow-up standard — The CCPA requires businesses to respond to deletion requests within 45 days. Most major brokers use the same window. Our auto-follow-up timer is based on this industry standard.
  • CSV export — You can export your data at any time. Your data belongs to you and you can move it to a spreadsheet or another tool if needed.
  • No account required — This tool works without registration. Clearing your browser history or localStorage will permanently delete your tracking data.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the 45-day follow-up important?
Under the CCPA and most state privacy laws, data brokers have up to 45 days to process your removal request. If your data is still listed after that window, you have grounds to file a complaint with your state attorney general. Following up ensures your request was actually processed.
What happens if I clear my browser data?
Your tracking data is stored in your browser's localStorage. If you clear browsing data, your opt-out records will be permanently deleted. We recommend exporting to CSV regularly as a backup. The Export CSV button creates a downloadable spreadsheet of all your tracked requests.
How many data brokers should I opt out of?
Start with the 12 priority brokers listed in our Data Broker Opt-Out Guide. These are the largest people-search sites and cover the majority of your exposure. After completing those, you can work through additional brokers in our database of 100+ sites.
Can I add custom brokers not in the list?
Yes. Select "Add custom broker" from the dropdown menu and enter any broker name. This is useful for tracking opt-outs from smaller or newer sites that are not yet in our pre-built list.
Does the tracker work across different devices?
The tracker stores data in your browser's localStorage, which is specific to each device and browser. Your tracking data will not automatically sync across devices. For portability, use the Export CSV feature to back up your data, then you can reference it anywhere.
